Not too long ago, I mentioned how important I thought it was that we do our part whether big or small all of our efforts can make a difference in caring for our planet. Today, I was reading about the Earth Day 2010 release of Disneynature’s OCEANS film.
I don’t know about you but I like to take every opportunity available to educate my children about our planet and the life her on it whether it be on the dry land or in our oceans. So when I saw this, it hit me how much the kids would probably enjoy it. They have enjoyed other movies about penguins and I know how much they love ocean life as well. Not only will Oceans be an educational film but it can also help preserve our environment.
Oceans is set to open on Earth Day, April 22, 2010. The “See OCEANS, Save Oceans” Initiative: Disneynature will make a donation to the The Nature Conservancy in honor of every guest who sees OCEANS its opening week (April 22-28, 2010). These funds will help save coral reefs in the Caribbean Sea. Wouldn’t it be awesome to know that while your family enjoys a movie, you kids get education about ocean life and you are helping to save coral reefs? It’s a win-win situation all the way around if you ask me but if you’d like more information regarding the See OCEANS, Save Oceans’ Initiative you can learn more here: http://adopt.nature.org/coralreef/saving-a-coral-kingdom.html.
Why not take advantage of the Educational Opportunity: Disneynature has created a downloadable activity guide to help you dive into the educational opportunities OCEANS creates. I took a look around HERE and found some really neat things your kids will enjoy. I know mine will. Everything from videos, a gallery and even a “for educators” section if your child’s teacher might be interested in.
Here are just a few more details about the movie you should know:
