A Step Back in Time: Sci-Fi at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

sci-fi at Hollywood Studios

Before heading to DisneyWorld last month I was researching dining options. I don’t like to be stuck to reservations but I do like to know what’s available where. After our prior trip, one of my son’s teachers asked me if we ate at the Sci-Fi diner at Hollywood Studios. We hadn’t cause I didn’t know about it. The way she described it I was sorry we hadn’t.

So this year, we headed over to Sci-fi at Hollywood Studios for a late night dinner. We loved it! The kids had a blast sitting in the car like booths. They were intrigued by the black and white film on the big screen and wondered why it was 1) in black and white and 2) why the movies looked so “old” (according to Princess). Needless to say, it spurred some pretty fun conversations.  The surroundings were classic. It felt like you just stepped back in time. Under the stars and everything.

And the food? I had the BBQ ribs (which are the specialty) and if they hadn’t been so delicious from looks to taste, I’d have gotten a photo. But they were just too yummy to let sit even for a photo. Oh and of course we couldn’t skip dessert.

This was one of the nicest, and most relaxing meals of our vacation.

Pack More Fun with American Tourister Colora Spinners

The Official Lugage of Disney

Traveling is fun! It just is for me. What is no fun, is waiting to get your luggage at the airport. One of the things that make that not fun is the fact that there are so many pieces of luggage that look the same. Nothing stands out. Sure you see the occasional bright ribbon tied on so it’s easier to spot. Well, I’ve got that beat this time.

Pack More Fun

I just received an American Tourister Colora Spinner in bright orange for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. Did you know American Tourister is the Official Luggage of Walt DisneyWorld and Disneyland? They are!

The Official Lugage of Disney

The Colora line includes three gorgeous, easy to spot colors: Raspberry, Orange and Lime. I won’t have any trouble finding my luggage on the carousel with these.  And I love that they are spinners. I have wanted one for so long. Of course as soon as my kids saw it they wanted to claim it. I just may give in and let one of them use it this time. It will be much easier to maneuver around the airport for my little princess with all four wheels spinning. Just look at all these gorgeous colors!

colora_lineEven the smallest carry-on, the 20” spinner provides a lot of space to pack more fun. I also like that it has two handle grips which will make it easier to get into and out of the carry on bins on the plane. Plus it has not just one but two front pockets! And … Oh just let me show you.

I am attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration this year. It is a conference I paid to attend. I am gifted items such as this and received discounted room rates. I am not required nor was I asked to blog about my experiences or any items I receive in connection with the event. As always all opinions are 100% my own.

The CROODS

DreamWorks Animation The CROODS

DreamWorks Animation The CROODS

My family and I were invited to a free advance screening of DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox – The CROODS which will be in theaters March 22nd. In case you’ve been living under a rock or something, The Croods is a 3D comedy adventure film about the first “First Family”.

You know the old saying, don’t judge a book by its cover. Well, I admit I had. I was going to write this one off as one we could pass on but I am so glad we didn’t. It started off a bit slow but just wait and it gets better as the true story line unfolds. It isn’t just a funny story of cave people, it’s a story of fatherhood, family love and growing up.

It’s a story every father of daughters can relate to. A story every girl has either been through or will. I found myself thinking back to when I was a teenager and how I felt the same way. I’ll bet, you will too. A story of moving beyond what we know and stepping out of that comfort zone to spread your wings and experience all the wonder beyond your four walls or cave walls in this case.

There was lots of laughter and even a few tears shed and no, not just by me.

It was a reminder to say “I love you”, to those you do.

And a reminder to always look to the light. Look to tomorrow.
