Saving time when it comes to meals is always a welcome thought in my house. So, I’ve been trying to think of some ways to cut down on kitchen time for me as well as the wait time for dinner to be served. Here’s a couple of ideas I can put to good use.
Crock Pot: Yep, I’ve pulled my crock pot out from the cabinets (and yes I had forgotten where I put it so it took a few minutes to locate) LOL. Crock pot cooking frees up my time during the day to do other things. I get up toss the ingredients in the crock pot, set it and let it cook for hours while I tend to other things. Crock Pot Meals
Cook-ahead meals: I’ve tried this a few times already and it does save me some time in the kitchen. Casseroles are a great make-ahead dish. Prepare everything a day in advance. Let’s say you have a football game to attend tomorrow night, just prep it all the day before, cook and cube the meat and cut up any veggies it calls for. Then before game time just combine all the ingredients and pop it into the oven to cook. Have your quick dinner and off the game you go.
Simple dinners: Meals that have five or less ingredients cut the preparation time down drastically. And with only a few ingredients you can even enlist your kids to help prepare dinner. Again if you have an event to attend or just need to get dinner on the table early, prepare vegetables the day before by cutting, cubing, or slicing them up and refrigerating them till they are needed.
With a little planning I’ll bet you can come up with some great dinners and save yourself some time. If you have any other ideas that work for you and your family, let’s hear ’em.
