What are you saving for? Maybe it’s a dream vacation, fulfilling a bucket list item or your child’s college fund, no matter what it is we are all actually saving for the same thing: the future.
Unlocking the Doors in Houston
Perhaps you’ve noticed the red doors that have popped up across Houston over the past week. Wondered what they are, who put them there and why? PurePoint Financial is behind the “Unlock Your Future” red door art installations. They have placed red doors at various locations throughout Houston.
What were behind the locked red doors?
The red doors were unlocked to display murals inspired by what Houstonians are saving for. Local Houston artist Michael Rodriguez created three murals in just 5 days. Impressive! Be sure to see them while they are still open. You can find them at the Galleria and at the Houston Aquarium.
- 48% of Houstonians say a dream vacation is what inspires them to save while the other 47% are saving for college tuition or medical expenses.
- The other doors about town depicted two of the other things Houstonians are saving for which were health and wellness related and for the purchase of a home.

A $10,000 Sweepstakes!
Did you know that every family should have at least $10,000 in savings? Personally, I didn’t know that was the recommended amount. I also learned that 3 out of 4 families don’t have $10,000 in savings.
Wouldn’t $10,000 be a great boost to your savings to get you closer to your goal? Of course, it would. That’s why I wanted to tell you about the $10,000 sweepstake PurePoint Financial is holding at their three Houston Financial Centers located at:
- Boulevard Place, 1800 Post Oak Blvd, Houston
- Champions Forest, 5503 FM 1960 Road West, Houston
- Crossing at Tel Fair, 310 S. Hwy 6, Sugar Land
Want to enter to win the $10,000 sweepstakes? You can, simply by visiting one of the three Houston PurePoint Financial Centers and entering there. You don’t even have to open an account to enter. But do it soon because the sweepstake ends on June 16th.
How to Make a Savings Goal a Reality
It can be really difficult to save that kind of money. So how do you do it? What can help us get there? I’m in the same boat you are, how do we make our goals a reality?
It was recommended to make your savings goal visual. What I mean by that is, let’s say you want to save for a dream vacation. It’s not enough to just have a photo of your dream location. You need to make it more real than that. Plan it out. Where will you stay? How long will you be there? Get really specific. Price it out and see how much you really need to make it a reality. And then figure out how you can make that happen.
Find little ways to cut back on unnecessary expenses like going out for coffee every day. If you really think about it (grab a calculator and actually total it up), how much could you actually save by not buying a cup of coffee every single day? Stop yourself when it comes to impulse buying. If we really put in enough effort, we could save a lot more money than we are now. We just need to be more conscientious of our spending and work more towards our financial goals. And we can if we do what was recommended, make your goal visual, make it real.
