Week in My Life – Tuesday

As I mentioned to you yesterday, I’m doing something fun this week. I’ve joined Aventuroo’s Week in My Life project. This is day 2.

Today the kids were back at school and my day although it was busy seemed to slow down a bit during the day. Same usual routines, the beds, the left out clothes, breakfast and off to school and work for hubby. But after that the house suddenly seemed extra quiet. I actually caught myself missing the noise of yesterday. I don’t like to get behind on keeping track of all of Buggy’s documentation from school so that’s where I started. Yes, I date and document every single piece of paper I get from school for him and file it in it’s binder for the year.

I got my work done, checked email, spent time on social media sites sharing posts I enjoyed reading with others, wrote a blog post and before I knew it, it was after 2 and I hadn’t had lunch. Wasn’t hungry but figured I’d better eat. So as I continued working, posting, etc. I made a quick microwave meal and ate it at my desk.

I picked up the kids and true to my promise we headed out to find those orange shirts we needed for Wednesday’s Unity Day. Yay! We found them.

We were out so we decided to go say hi to grandma at work. That took at little longer than I anticipated of course. I should know better. We rushed back home ’cause I just knew there’d be homework and probably lots of it. And I was right and so began the homework mode.

While the kids did their homework I hit the kitchen to start dinner. Princess finished up her homework pretty quick as she doesn’t get near as much as Buggy does yet. So off to the shower with her. Dinner came and went and then came the task of brushing Princess’ hair. You see he’s only had scissors near her hair once in her lifetime and that was a few years ago when she donated it. As you can see she’s just about ready to do it again.

I love her hair. It’s beautiful but trust me it is a 45 minute to hour tasks to comb it all out and get it braided and her ready for bed. But I’ll be honest, those 45 minutes of mommy – daughter time are times I treasure ’cause right then and there, there are no distractions, no t.v., not computer monitors, nothing but her and I and maybe a book she’ll read outloud to me. Then off to beddie-bye went my sweet, precious children. Sweet dreams my little ones.

Mommy still needs to iron your shirts for tomorrow, clean up the kitchen and write a blog post or two. Then mommy will be off to bed too.

Smartphones and your child’s safety are connected. You might wonder how. I did. In such a “social” online world it’s easy to let your guard down both online and off. Sometimes we do it not knowing we may be putting our kids’ every move out there for others to see.

Could taking photos of our kids with our smartphones put our kids in danger? Does it really pose a privacy risks?
